That doesn’t make sence for the Oilers. Reimer has the same amount of years left as Sekera and with the retention we only save minimal. We are basically paying 2 goalies 9.5M total including the retention

It's a matter of clearing space, position-wise. You guys have a logjam in the LHDs and need a goalie.

Also Sekera's overpaid. No one is taking him without salary retention.

I have no problem retaining on Sekera but not for a overpaid backup goalie.

Reimer can be retained too, but not by that much.
