Salary Cap Mode: Basic

Description

Tampa Bay saves around ~$8M of cap space, Ottawa saves around ~$1M of real dollars, Eriksson rides the pine in the AHL for a year and hopefully retires soon.

Miller is a speedy skilled guy who can keep up with Petey, Pageau a 2-way guy who can complement Bo and take the hard matchups with him (and slide over to center if one of the big 2 get hurt), and Gaudette gets to play with better guys than Schaller and Granlund.

On D, Tanev is missed but both Rutta and Benn are more durable and can play in the top 4, plus Schenn and Brisebois are proven depth guys on the farm.

Condon is a decent 3rd string goalie so we don't have another DiPietro/Bachman situation.

For the Tampa deal, I would prefer a deal centered around Foote as opposed to Miller.

I understand, but I don't think it's as simple as just swapping them in the above trade...Tampa is going to need a LOT of cap-friendly guys next year, and he is one of the best options available. I feel like if Tampa was willing to move Foote, they would have done it this past trade deadline to beef up for a cup run *this* year.

Then put him on waivers and have Vancouver put in a claim. He has an NTC, not an NMC...there's ways around those.

Tampa is still really good. They will make changes, but that involves getting rid of older players like Killorn, Palat maybe Johnson.

You might be right, but note that those 3 guys have full NTCs and Miller does not.

If those are the guys they move I'd avoid Killorn but Palat and Johnson would be decent additions. I don't think you'd have to include Virtanen in the deal in that case, either.
