Feel like trouba would threaten to hold out of NJ. If he goes anywhere it’ll be Detroit

Yeah that would be a big concern, especially with Yzerman coming back. NJD might have to overpay to get him long term like 8x8 or 8 x $8.5 mil. That is there main advantage over the Wings: cap space.

I can't imagine any trade for Trouba not involving a first-round pick.

Clarkson isn't a cap consideration for Las Vegas because he is on LTIR. The Golden Knights would be unlikely to trade McNabb and Reaves because they are quality depth players and don't have much cap impact, either. They need to move somebody with a major salary like Pacioretty, Stastny or Stone (all of whom they just traded for, and two of whom they just signed long-term deals with), Fleury (how likely is that?), or Marchesseault, Karlsson or Smith. I think the two obvious choices are Karlsson and Smith, and the Golden Knight have a replacement for one of them.

The Devils obviously aren't going to give up their 1st this or next year, because of Hughes/ Kappo or who knows what happens next season it might be another lottery pick. Maybe the Devils would trade their 2nd round pick (34th overall) almost like a late 1st round pick.

Plus your probably right McNabb and Reeves are less likely to move than Haula/Eakin/ Smith. I would just like to see McNabb and Reeves on the Devils since it would give them some grit and a defensive Dman that they have been missing. Taking Clarkson's contract was just to sweeten the deal, so VGK don't have to pay his salary, instead of adding another 5th/6th round pick.

New Jersey has more cap space then Detroit, But we still have close to $25 million this year and next year. So Detroit can still afford to bring Trouba home and will out bid New Jersey for him if need be.

As a Jets fan I wouldn't mind that trade at all.

Karlsson plays center so more likely one of Smith or Marchesseault would be dealt but there's also Tuch that could be traded. I see Eakin being traded for cap relief this summer and for a decent return, someone will be looking for center depth.

I think that Last Vegas is much more likely to keep Tuch long-term than Smith.

Yeah which is scary since they can decent returns on Haula, Eakin, maybe Holden, and Smith and still have

Marchessault - Karlsson - Stone/ Tuch
Pacioretty - Stastny- Stone/ Tuch
Gusev - Glass ? - Piri/Carpenter/ Zykov
Carrier - Bellemare- Reeves

I think you've just hit their top 12 on the head (Carpenter at #3 RW), barring surprises in training camp or at the draft. Plus I'm a big Nosek fan.
