Description

While TBL doesn’t need Darling in net, they could benefit from this trade with the cap savings that he could offer. Miller would offer CAR a versatile forward that they could ease Necas into the lineup at RW. When he’s ready, they could reshuffle the lines to optimize their forward group.

You realize that with him being sent down to the AHL TBL will save $4M in total on the cap, right? More if they elect to buy him out. This transaction is all about cap savings, not an extra goalie. They can upgrade at RHD, resign him and still save on the cap.

They’ll save $1M cap charge on the buried AHL contract. Add that and it’s $4M, give or take.
