I'm sure as a Toronto fan you think the world of Kadri.

I'm not sure many people in Carolina share your accessed value

No disrespect to Liljegren, he is not what we need, our D is crowded enough as it is, even with Fox leaving and moving out one of our RHD

So, no thanks from Carolina

Lilly doesn’t fit, Kadri certainly would. I think there is a deal there but this isn’t it. Kadri for pesce would be fair if they both had the same term.

Trade with buffalo is the only reasonable one.

So you want the cheapest owner in the NHL to absorb 6.25 million. Gaborik contract is probably insured and cost him pennies

Agreed, there's no way Melnyk moves Gaborik. He's paying like 900k for a 4.88M cap hit. Marleau isn't leaving Toronto unless he's going to SJ and that roster might implode this summer.

There's a good argument for Ottawa helping TO with that Marleau Contract. It's high in cap hit, but low in actual Salary, it adds a much needed veteran presence to what is a largely young inexperienced team, and they can add picks to keep aiding the rebuild.

That said, I'm not doing this deal. Paul is an ideal depth piece for Ottawa's future. Big, fast, Strong, and a strong defensive player to boot. He's by no means a star, but he's a solid Depth player who Ottawa should hold onto.

Sens also shouldn't be giving an offsetting pick. Drop both prospects as well as Gaborik, and leave just the 2nd going to Ottawa, or maybe something like A 3rd and a middling prospect like engvall.

not really why would buffalo want an older prospect for a younger guy who just made the jump and a slight boost in draft spots ( about 15 picks difference rn)

You are wrong on the Marleau contract. If he is traded before his bonus kicks in then it is 6.25 million that Ottawa has to pay. If Toronto pays him his 4 million bonus which I believe is July 1st, they incur that bonus on the 2019/2020 salary cap, which if they pay why trade him then.

Wrong.... ugh please just look at his contract and don’t be lazy.

If Marleau is traded before July 1st it is better for the sens. They can buy him out and pay 400k. But even if they didn’t buy him out it is still only 4.25m. I have no idea where you are getting 6.25m.

If he is traded after July 1st you will pay 1.25m and will no longer be able to buy him out.

So Casey is 6 months younger... is this really your argument? 15 spots is a lot in a draft and to be honest this trade is still not perfect. Actual fair value (not accounting for one team to be Pershing the trade)

Holl and 6th for Nelson and a 7th.

Holl is worth a 7th Casey is worth a 6th so you swap players and picks. Why a 2nd and 3rd would ever be involved in such a mundane trade of useless players is beyond me. They are both fringe 6 Dmen with potential.

I think Sabres say no. Nelson is younger and a better player than Holl. We could trade you Bogosian at 2.5 mil for Marleau (who we would buy out) and a good prospect

Yes 6.25 million is the cap hit and you are wrong it is $ 833000 over two years that Ottawa would owe him not 400000, I am not lazy just do not buy into Maple Leaf's fan thinking.

If he is traded after July 1st, Sens only on hook for 1.25 million, but Leafs still have to pay 3 million bonus which effects 19/20 cap. You can not wish 3 million away.

So yes I am wrong but so are you. Probably all a moot point as Marleau would never accept a trade to Ottawa.
