CLB is getting an important middle 6 center out of this deal. With Duchene likely heading for bigger money elsewhere, I think this is a smart long-term play. I doubt other teams would pay that same price for Anderson on the open-market. He's a great player, but Jankowski is developing really well and is already a strong 3C, with potential to develop into a shutdown 2C.

Jarmo would definitely think about it.

Anderson is much better and more valuable than Jankowski. As much as I would love to add Anderson he’s a class ahead of Jankowski who is essentially the new Joe Colborne

Sorry dude, Jarmo would laugh and hang up. Anderson's still an RFA that is great in all ends, is for sure a leader type, plays special teams, plays super physical, and will still score 25-30 goals. Hes worth way more than Jank (who let's face it, isnt that good) and a second and fourth.

Columbus declines once you start to say Anderson. Not getting anything worth him. Maybe add a 1st and they think about it.

It's happened before. So keep loling for not knowing.

CGY traded for Jay Bouwmeester's rights before July 1st.

WSH traded Halak's rights to NYI.

NSH traded Hamhuis to PHI.

MTL traded Wisniewski to CLB.

VAN traded Ehrhoff to NYI and then to BOS.

WSH traded Varlamov to COL.

And that's not even the full list.

The value for that sort of "right" is a late draft pick.
