Surprise Karlsson Landing Spot

Created by: Watty1
Team: 2019-20 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 19, 2019
Published: Apr. 22, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just did this on a whim, but from many accounts it sounds like Karlsson would prefer to be back East and if he can get close his wife's home in Ottawa that would be ideal. Buffalo would have the cap room and is getting closer to being a playoff team. I think this lineup would challenge in the East and Karlsson could be as close to Ontario as possible.

If anyone is going to make 11 million a year, and have a choice of where to live in North America, it will never be buffalo

Methinks you need to go to Buffalo. It's been transformed over the last 10 years or so - IMO it's a much nicer place to live than Winnipeg, Detroit or Pittsburgh, for instance. I would say Buffalo would be at least an average destination.

How is Buffalo closer to being a playoff team? Since Jan. 1 they had the worst record in the league yes, worse than Ottawa.

There aren't many teams teams, especially current good teams that have cap space for Karlsson (although I think the current and future version of EK isn't going to worth the money he going to get).
So maybe Buffalo is an option for EK. Though as DD points out. does EK want to wait, for Sabres to get better.
Regarding Buffalo as city/play to live. Pretty good travel schedule compared to any Western Conference team. Buffalo the city itself is kinda small and "plain" but the suburbs....lots of green space and good communities. NFLers and NHLers who work/live, many have only good things to say about Buffalo.

Good coach and and go. At the beginning of the season we were in the leading positions.

Good for you, you had a winning streak and then returned to the team you actually are. That winning streak means nothing. You have 2 current top 6 forwards on your roster. You are not close to being competitive.

I am convinced that the case in coach, especially on the example of the New York islanders, who lost their main star in the offseason, but came in and knocked out Pittsburgh, of course we don't have much talent, but if GM did a good job on trades and signing a UFA and will hire a good coach, all things are possible.

Well sure, anything is possible but you getting 4 top 6Fs this off-season is highly unlikely and getting Karlsson is even more unlikely imo

No, I'm not saying that we will get this squad, it's not I created this topic, just said that under certain circumstances, you can at least fight for the playoff zone.

Dominic Hasek didn't seem to have a problem getting in trouble in Buffalo.

Erik Karlsson isn't signing there...

I do not know all who live here but I know Harry Neale, Scotty Bowman, John Muckler, and other have all decided to live in Buffalo, or the Buffalo area.
The City has great restaurants, great theatre, great road system, inexpensive homes, great hospitals, great architecture, great water front, great inexpensive live entertainment, and much more. Yes it is a small town, but it had a great past and IMO the future is looking really good. Especially for the Sabres. Get solid defensive LHD (to play with Ristolainen) and RHD (to play with Dahlin), a good GK coach, the team will be good next year.
