You just destroyed your team. Nylander for Wilson is okay, but the Tavares and Marner deals? You get bent over.

These trades are gross....and more of a nuclear detonation vs a shake up

Outside of game 2, has there been any other game the leafs lost this post-season because they got pushed around? This was a #7 team getting matched up against the #3 team and going to a 7th game. Hardly a reason to make major moves

What does there season rank have to do with anything? This series might be the most even match-up of all the first round series...probably the 2nd round too.

Because of lot of fans are writing off the season as a failure if we don't get past the first round and ready to make major trades and trade the coach. We aren't ever 3 years removed from being the worst team in the league and willing to commit to a full rebuild but now there's too many ready to make knee-jerk reactions if we lose to a team that had a better season than us.

I mean in fairness the moment Toronto signed JT, all the experts were picking them or Tampa to win the cup (sprinkle in a few SJS votes) I'd say the expectation were set a bit high, but when you get a massive hockey market like Toronto, that'll happen. I think the "rebuild reaction" probably stems from past 1-2 season of big signings + the ones still to come. As a non-Leafs fan, the only guy I'm not even listening to offers on is Marner. I know people drool over Matthews, but I just don't see it. The guy has to have one of the most unmemorable P/GP playoff performances ever. Maybe its because Marner is playing that much better, but the only time I notice Matthews is when Toronto is on the PP.

I love Shea Weber and even have a signed #8 sweater, but for 2 first-round picks in the 2020 draft and Dermott (who might as well have been one), you've got a deal.

Why are you shaking things up? Nothing has happened yet? The Leafs and Boston are so evenly matched that no team has yet won back-to-back games this series. For Leafs fans sake, let's hope that trend continues. If the Leafs lose this series, it will be solely because of their special teams and the fact that the Leafs GM, specific with our penalty kill, did not address that, at all, at the trade deadline.

Signing JT ramped up the competitive window...but I think expectations of winning the cup are silly in the NHL no matter what team it is.

As for Matthews, he's come on really strong the past couple games so hopefully he proves he has it in him to put this team on his shoulders.

You think so? I know the points are there, but seems like on some it was due to someone else doing great work. Like I said, Marner terrifies me, and I secretly hope Toronto loses him in the off-season (though that chances are 0.00000000000000001% it happens) via RFA or forced to trade him because of cap issues lol.
