yzerman year 1

Created by: hockeymanbl
Team: 2019-20 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 22, 2019
Published: Apr. 22, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
raised the cap to 83M which is what is projected for next year. Realistically I dont see Yzerman being able to do anything with the Abdelkader or Nielsen contracts, as much as I would love to see those contracts gone, you just can't do anything with them. In addition I personally would't buy out Errorsson, hes on the last year of his deal just let him play it out in GR and don't bring him back. Also with the trading of Green and Daley at the deadline the Wings may look to call up Jared McIssac assuming they assign him to Grand Rapids at seasons start instead of Junior. Jake Chelios was very impressive to me in his short tenure with the Wings this season, I think he should see an extneded run in the team next season If avalible I believe the Wings will select Bowen Byram at #6 overall in this years draft.

Trades
1.
DET
  1. 2020 2nd round pick (VGK)
  2. 2020 5th round pick (VGK)
VGK
  1. Green, Mike
Additional Details:
While in the midst of a rebuild Green would be flipped at the deadline. Vegas has shown in the past 2 years that they are not afraid to make moves picking up Mark Stone this year, and Tomas Tatar last year. Vegas will continue to be aggressive deadline buyers next year this time on the backend. I believe Green's injury struggles will hinder his trade value and make it difficult for the Wings to pickup a first.
2.
DET
  1. 2019 4th round pick (BUF)
PIT
  1. Daley, Trevor
Additional Details:
With the constant injuries to Pittsburgh's blueline I believe the Pens could make a move to bring back 2 time cup Champ with the organization and pending UFA Trevor Daley.

10 million on the fourth line is absolutely criminal... but unfortunately for Stevie there isn't a thing he can do unless he wants to trade the only one worth while, Glendening, and I think he is actually a solid player to have on the team. Don't get me wrong I would still trade him if someone offered something solid for him, but I absolutely hate that fourth line.

I think the forward group is what it is and they need elite talent but unless you but panarin its not happening this offseason. so the blue line is a way he can effect this team going forward. green at the deadline is pretty safe bet and daley when healthy is ok but id rather see bowery and hronek play than him. I dont think jake chelios is an nhl player. steve needs to add one real piece oin the blue line , maybe its byram at the draft or myers in ufa or trade for who knows, krug or trouba

Kuffner and Rasmussen will be in the AHL. Rasmussen had Jr transfer rights issues that meant he had to be kept in Detroit. He only averaged 12 mins a game and faded in the 2nd half of the season. He will be able to get mins and develop his game in the AHL. Kuffner looked like he was a 4th line player and that's a number game in Detroit.

I think Daley has more trade value at the start of the season if Detroit is willing to retain about 50% of his contract as a few teams need d-men and are up against the cap (Toronto and Tampa). Daley can be a serviceable #4 or realistically a solid number 5 d-man. I think the best example is Ryan Callahan (5.8M/1 year with only a MNTC--is Detroit one of the 15 no's? Yzerman should know) that would free up considerable cap space for a team that has to re-sign RFA Brayden Point coming off his ELC with a 40 goal season plus 4 UFA d-men.

The problem with giving your Feb 2020 roster (at the deadline when you trade 2 d-men) is that you are showing too many up in the NHL. So besides McIsaac who is in the AHL all season until the deadline: Hronek, Chelios, or Cholowski? And what about Kronner? He sure seemed like he has been playing to justify another 1 year deal.
