I'd decline if I'm Fenton. We almost traded him for Calgary's 1st and Frolik at the deadline, but the trade fell through at the last second (according to our beat writer). Zucker played a lot better to end the year (raising his value) and non-playoff teams would now want him where they didn't at the deadline (raising demand for him and thus his value) so it would now take more than that to get him. In my opinion, this is not more than that when you consider we are giving up a 3rd. That 32nd pick is nice, but I don't see Quenneville and Mcleod being anything better than bottom 6 players. NJD would have to give up more quality to get Zucker and unfortunately they don't have any pieces that fit the Wild's needs.

Edit: realized it's Nashville's 2nd not NJD... Yeah we definitely wouldn't take that using the Calgary trade and adding a little as a baseline

Minnesota trade looks good. I think your a little under for acquiring Pesce. Maybe add in a young B graded winger?? Quenneville is that guy, but you have him going to Minnesota. I think Santini fits in Toronto, but does Toronto really want Vatanen?? However, I think they bite at almost any deal that allows them to move Zaitsev. Good stuff.

@TanSor - Do you really think McLeod is only a bottom six player? The dude skates on afterburners and has great hands. Maybe he doesn't amount to a top liner, but 6'2" guys with wheels and hands usually pan out a little better than bottom six. Just curious, why do you think he's overrated?

Yes. He's got speed but not much else from what I've seen. I don't think his hands are that great... Maybe I just haven't seen enough of him.

A respectable response. Magnus Pajaarvi is another bigger guy with wheels who turned into a marginal bottom six player. Perhaps you're correct. Jordan Kyrou of the Blues is also about the same size with wheels, and he hasn't done anything during the two or three opportunities he's had. It's such a tough league. Who knows???

Yeah exactly, you never know! Mcleod is a guy I've been interested in for about a year, so whenever I've found out he's called up to the NHL I've made it a point to watch him. The few games I saw he didnt look very noticeable other than being a good skater, but it could have just been a bad stretch I suppose. I just wasn't very impressed with him. He was decent on the dot, though, so at the least I see him developing into a solid 3rd liner. He also didn't have a great year production-wise in the AHL which I don't like to put too much weight in since points aren't everything, but it's at least noteworthy of a young prospect. At his age you'd expect a forward taken 12 overall to be tearing up the AHL, and Mcleod hasn't for whatever reason.

It's better, although I'm still not sure I'd take it. I could see a team on the verge of contending with a higher 1st round pick such as Arizona offering their 1st for Zucker and in the case that were true I'd take that trade over this.

I'd love to reply, but unfortunately I don't know enough about Seney to offer a valid opinion. If he's anything like Q, who I see as a solid third liner who plays the game well and could chip in for about 12-15 goals per year, I'd say do it. As a Blues fan, I'd like to see us move Pietrangelo. I think he'd be a guy that would really benefit the Devils. He has playoff experience, moves the puck, is great with the stick and his style of play ages well. A while back, I posted a trade of McLeod and a 2020 1st for Petro (assuming he signs with NJ). I don't think your posted trade would work in St. Louis though, not because I think Petro is that much more valuable than Pesce, but because I think Palmieri is the same guy as Blue David Perron. Keep up the good stuff!

McLoud is bottom 6 player.

Signed- Devils fan who was not happy with the pick then or now.
