Marleau is gassed out. Maybe he will officially retire along with his last pair of skates.

Weird since TSN shows Nylander at 16 mins and other two 14:35 and 13:14. Breakdown for minutes looks like 21 minutes for 1st, 17 mins for 2nd, 13 mins for 3rd and 9 mins for 4th line with few extra minutes for PP guys on lower lines.

Too much money on the line for him to retire. Plus cap recapture

There is no recapture. His contract would need to be traded. His salary next year is 1.5m... I think he can survive...

So what is that? 2 million recapture? Worth it.

You think Marleau needs an extra 1.5 mill? For what, to tip the caddies?

Signing bonuses don’t apply to salary? While it isn’t an egregious front-loaded contract like Luongo or Weber, it still receives a cap benefit of 2 million for those 2 years if bonuses do count. The final year has a signing bonus and his salary is what you said.

You guys are talking like 1.5 million isn’t a lot lmaooooo. Doesn’t matter how rich he is. If Marleau can physically play, he’ll take the 1.5 million. As for a trade, Marleau SIGNED with Toronto because he wanted the third year guaranteed. Sharks didn’t offer a 3 year deal. He WENT to Toronto for the job security. If he can physically play (which he can) he will. He wants to play for the leafs. It’s where his heart is. He has a NMC, he ain’t waiving it

Hes made nearly 100 million in salary alone he probably has 150 mill in the bank. 1 mill is a lot (A LOT) for us, for him its pocket change

Like I said, there’s a reason he signed the 3 year deal. He wants to play. If leafs only offered 2 years he would’ve resigned in SJ

Is everyone an insider? There’s this and the in-depth knowledge of Marleau’s bank account.

If he retires he will waive. The likelihood of that... I don’t know, I’m not Marleau. My comment was in response to yours... there is not “a lot” of money on the line. He can pick up his 3m on July 1st and retire if he wants to. There is no recapture because he signed a multi year deal after the age of 35 so his cap hit stays intact no matter what circumstance. You made some errors in your comment so I figured I would straighten things out.

Signing bonus doesn’t apply because the leafs can pay it out before he retires. It is due on July 1st.

Neither Weber or luongo signed a multi year 35+ contract. There is no cap relief. Even if he retires his cap hit remains. All 6.25m. It would need to be traded.

This sight shows you career earnings, then you can estimate ad rev and other revenue from outside. Then subtract taxes and you can get a good guesstimate. Im sure with 30 minutes of googling you could get a closer to accurate number
