I like the moves for the most part. I think the Kadri acquisition is a smart and feasible trade, but I don't think they'll want Russell. What else would you wanna give up?

I also don't like the Connolly signing. He had one good year, but for the most part his point totals are in the 20s. He's not that young, and those deals with term have been killer to the Oilers in the past, so I would be hesitant to sign another. Maybe look into calling up Cooper Marody. He's similar in performance to Benson.

Mrazek will likely sign with Canes and for about 2-2.5M more. There's no chance I'm playing Benning, Bear over Jones at #2RD. Joel Persson would likely benefit from couple months in AHL to see the NA game before making NHL jump. Its also doubtful Leafs want Russell, but who knows after another first round exit

Ya, Mrazek is probably a long shot, but I keep hearing Brian Elliott's name out there, and hate the idea - I'd be ok with Neuvirth even over Elliott. As for which of the young kids comes up next year (Jones, Bear, Persson) I think it's open for debate, but my instinct here is play the older Persson, and let the kids overdevelop a bit - at least to start the season. Bouchard and Jones could both push their way on the team by Christmas.

As for the Russell deal - I like it as a base. I'm not sure what kind of sweetener would be needed... I doubt picks are that appealing to TOR at this point. Maybe some salary retained? I could also be persuaded to offer a prospect (Bear?), but in that case I think I'd like a prospect back as well, and don't know enough about TOR prospects to propose something.

Connolly - classic Oilers overpay. I feel like it's going to happen, and if it's going to happen, I think I'll risk it on Connolly over Chiasson, and don't think someone like Tanev or Pirri will actually be available.
