You think Heinola would play in the big ligue before Romanov?
at 15OA... if available who do you choose: Caufield, Broberg or Heinola

I know they like to grab D when they can, bit if Lavoie is still available when the Habs draft, they'd be foolish to pass on him. He's big, skilled, a good skater and he comes to play when the games get important.

And Caufield is the fastest & best skill guy on that draft.. rank between 10 and 20th... but he is only 5'6 like Gaudreau

I still think there's a value in a big, capable Mantha/Kreider type. The Habs are lacking forwards who can score from more than 5 feet out.

Newhook certainly is intriguing, though I am always worried about the BCHLers. You can look awfully good against tier-2 talent.

I would like to see the Habs trade a player and the two second rounders to get another first rounder and, ideally, get both.

How can you have lost faith in MB now? Other than Wiese being over the hill (but he really only cost Schlemko), there were no bad trades in the past year and the others are all starting to look like solid "wins" for the Habs. Drouin gave us glimpses of his abilities whereas Sergachev took steps backwards. The Weber-Subban debate is now 100% over. Domi for Galchnyuk was a slam dunk, and the Pacioretty trade was the closest thing in hockey to a grand slam home run. While our drafting has long been mediocre, it's hard to look at Poehling, Brook, Fleury, Primeau and Kotkeniemi (and hopefully Romanov) as anything but excellent picks.

He might still be aloof and sometimes a bit arrogant, but I don't think there's been much to criticize in his decisions over the past 18 months.

Just not finding anything at TDL to help is team getting a secure spot in the playoff leave a sour taste when many option was on the table...
I can regain my faith promptly if he do something in the off season... something USEFULL (not Thompson signature!)

I think Thompson is a great signing because it gives flexibility. Poehling, Evans, Suzuki can all have time to develop in Laval (if they need it) but if the kids make the team out of training camp, Thompson's salary is so low that he will be instantly claimed on waivers. He wants to be in Montreal and I thought he was a good fit, but he insured he will have a job somewhere in the NHL next season.

On the TDL front, I agree that he should have realized Niemi was a liability and made a trade for a proven backup, like Ryan Miller or someone. I loved watching Price rise to the challenge, but he was gassed and had the Habs made the playoffs, he would have probably run out of energy along the way. There wasn't an LD that was readily available, though with Beaulieu going for a 5th rounder, I think I would have brought him back, though he's not an improvement on Mete, Kulak or Benn.

I think we could trade for any upcoming UFA like Edler for any type of low return as they will loose him for nothing.

I think had he been legitimately available at a reasonable price, MB would have tried to get him. I think every discussion started with the name "Brook" and went from there.
