because mcdonagh is by far the best player/asset in this trade

have no idea why Tampa would ever do this, they're better off just buying out cally

Mcdo > than petry

Mcdo is a LHD, and we need one of those, petry is behind weber and we have good prospect at RHD.

- rielly is not in the plans just like Hudon (no place for them in MTL), and a second to make it cute.

but I would do Petry one for one... to be honest

well -> they have a weak RH side. Petry is cheaper for a similar production, so you skim on the a contract while dumping Callahan, which frees up money to actually put 23 players on the ice + keeping point and Miller and Gourde...

+ plus getting a second pick, a third, and two prospect to sign for cheap. (those prospect could be changed. )

i know mcdo is good player but habs fans need to face reality. the team is not a contender right now and they have many good young players coming up. best option is to keep leadership group but only add to the young core. having 3 guys over 30 on books for 5x years all making min 6m$ is not a good idea for any rebuild

well we are not rebuilding... we had a reset - we are 2-3 years away from competing. the 3 guys are Weber, Price and Mcdo? -> so you would rather have the habs waste the last year of competition out ofr Price and Weber?

Why because they won their first round of playoff with that core? Oh wait - they got swept!

I would rather McDonagh playing his off side on one leg than petry.

McDonagh also has a no trade

Have you been to MTL? - its like living in Europe.

Quality of life, food, fashion, night life, housing and culture are great. No hurricanes. Lets be honest, Tampa propably looks like a ****-hole compared to Montréal.

Although, they will miss the beach around January ahahhah.

All the time, I'm an hour from MTL and Ott. MTL is fun and like "visiting" Europe, not quite like living there. Especially two quiet, established, American boys. They fought to get NTCs, just to wave to go from a perfect situation on and off ice, with zero scrutiny. Never mind the weather, taxes, schooling, language, both are past their prime and would be constantly under the microscope! It's soooo much easier for them to say, no thank you.

I think you are projecting your own apprehension about QC on two "american boys".
