Sens will not buy out Marleau... he's owed $5M bonus so unless we're buying him out after he's traded on July 1st then it's a no from us. Also, if he's bought out after July 1st (but was on the TO roster on July 1) then he can't resign with the Leafs or Sens.

I can't see OTT doing this at all. You're also forgetting the biggest piece of that trade...It cost WAS a starting Goalie...Grub who's paying pretty darn good. So Think about sending over Kasperi Kap in that trade too.

Grubauer was a backup goalie for Wash and started the year as Colorado's backup (35 starts this year)....wasn't chosen as a Starting goalie in the orpik deal, was also on an expiring deal so acquired his rights. Leafs are taking on $9.75 in salary from the sens. I have to think that is enticing enough for that penny pincher Eugene.

I'm sorry, but you're misinformed. Gaborik is NOT owed $9.75M His salary over the next 2 years is $6.25M with zero bonuses. Marleau is owed $4.25M in salary next year and $3M in bonuses...$7.25M which is more than Gaborik's $6.25M. Also, Melnyk now needs to replace Gaborik's cap hit with real dollars. So the loss to Melnyk is greater than the $1M, but to what extent it's greater is unknown. ALSO...I'm 95% sure there's insurance for players on LTIR.
