Montreal says yes please, though there might have to be another contract going the other way (just a minimum) to keep from getting too close to the 50-contract cutoff.

And then there's the goaltending

Our goaltending tandem both played over 40 games this season. both goaltenders had winning records with rittich at almost a 3 to 1 on wins to losses in regulation. both had under 3 goals against per game. mike smith recovered his season in the last 2 months to almost bring his save precentage back to .900. mike smith was the flames best player in the playoffs standing on his head. the flames had the 2nd best season in franchise history despite only average goaltending from smith (in the first half and spectacular goaltending in the second half) and with spectacular goaltending from rittich.

goal tending is not as big an issue fr the flames as everybody makes it out to be.

I wouldn't give them 100% security based off of this one season.

I like Smith as a bounce-back candidate, but then again bounce-backs especially at his age are not certain whatsoever. Rittich also i'm skeptical of him replicating this season but he certainly could do it

im not saying that they are the best option in the league but a tandem of goaltenders that at the very least gives you average goal tending every night for a total cap hit of 5-7 million sounds pretty good to me.
if the flames goaltending averages i the ranking of 15-20th best in the league then the overall fire power the flames have is more than enough to make up for it. will they potentially lose them a couple games? sure. but id take average goaltending over spending 9-10 million on a guy like bobrovsky because as the league has proven overpaying goaltenders usually leads to disappointment.
cary price montreal
lundquivst in new york

great goaltenders but they do not steal more games than average goal tending loses for teams
