I cannot see any chance of Lehner leaving NY.
He is doing well, they supported him even with his mental health issues, and the Islanders took him for a run this year in the playoffs after having no good goalies.

Lehner will want to stay, and NY will want to keep him (they also have lots of cap space to sign him)

Calgary has one of the better addiction/recovery systems in the league, led by Brian McGrattan. In fact, Ferland is one of the guys that fought his way back from alcohol problems while in Calgary.

I agree that NYI is a very good spot for Lehner to stay for the long-term, but I wonder if that $6M x 4-5 year offer would be well above what Lamiorello would offer Lehner?

Will be interesting to see. CGY is a good team and will be interesting for free agents.

You would really let Brodie go for a 2nd and a 4th? I mean, I'm pretty sure MTL does that because IMO he's worth a lot more.

As an islanders fan I am sure they want Lehner back but probably on a shorter deal (2-3yrs). Arguably Greiss was as good and both Greiss and Lehner benefited from the Trotz system. I think the islanders plan B would be Varlamov for 3yr term as they will likely bring top prospect goalie Sorokin from KHL the following year when Greiss’s contract is finished. Simply, isles may want another Russian when they bring over a rookie Russian. Or just sign Bobrovsky and Panarin and let Lehner walk. It’s really hard to say.

Unfortunately his ailments will affect his contract due to risks in my opinion. A 2-3 year contract is not unreasonable at 4.5 to 5 mil max.
