Cap Space as an Asset

Description
Detroit is finally out of cap hell. So, instead of starting the cycle again with new giant contracts, how about truly rebuilding, and using your cap space as a way to acquire more assets?

Trying to brainstorm some ideas. Let me know if they have merit or are crazy.

When the Leafs re-sign Marner and Kapanen, they'll need some cap space. Marleau looked lost in the playoffs. Wings should take him off their hands (assuming he'll waive), and get a 2nd rounder in exchange for the cap space, or a prospect.

Vegas will need cap space this summer, so try to get a good deal on an asset in Miller. Flip Mike Green at 50% retained back to them, and take Haula or another extra forward back to create more space for Vegas.

Now, with some assets that other teams might actually want, try to go get Trouba. Don't overpay, because he may become a UFA next summer, but try to get him.

If anyone is interested in Daley or Ericsson at 50% retained, do it and try to get any assets possible, while opening a roster spot for Hicketts. The same goes for Marleau now.

Not a fan of the Trouba deal. Would rather they move Rasmussen. AA is a proven forward now and we are deep down the middle. It's gonna be a little bit before Veleno is playing and even if they go C and not D with 6th overall, that player is still a few years away. I'd rather move Sheahan 2.0 now while he has value.

That's a pretty good trade for the Jets, hope Chevy can pull something like that off.

Whats the price on taking Jack Johnson from Pittsburgh? Anything intriguing other than our first this year?
