I’m a Leaf and Oiler fan and love that trade for both sides. I’d hate to lose Kapanen in Toronto, but Larsson is dramatically underappreciated bc of the brutal trade that brought him to Edmonton. I actually think it’s an underpay slightly by Toronto because Brown is included.

For Nashville I can respect that take. But Nashville has to move somebody, and a top D prospect plus a C that would be a 1C on some teams, and a top 2C on almost any other team plus some good picks is a good trade. The only reason I would say possibly saying no is their Centre depth plus the salary retention.

No it’s not. Kapanen and brown are equal to 2nd and 3rd round picks respectively. I’m sure if the oilers wanted draft picks they could get a 2nd and 3rd for Larson no problem.

I love Marner. But the market was set by seguin wheeler etc. 10 is a slight overpay. At 5 years and only 2 years of ufa he’s down below 8 per.

Kucherov got 9.5. In contract year got over 100 points. And was going into 3rd contract with arbitration rights. Those are 2 things Marner has against him making even that much. I think 8x9 would be more likely but after making the mistake w Nylander last year I think Dubas overpays. If Marner's dad insists on Matthews money he will be gone. To Phoenix for OEL? Or LA for Doughty.

Huge over payment for Subban. Not only are we giving Nash a 1st, but also our best prospect ... and a 2nd and 3rd along with kadri? If we're gonna throw this much weight around it needs to be for a better defensemen, like doughty. And also .... correct me if I'm wrong, but if the max amount allowed to be retained 15%?

If Chris Johnston is talking straight and the leafs have a number that they can afford for Mitch, and if he doesn't play ball then they'll trade him.. well, leaf nation need something else to have angst about.. because if Marner is traded I would assume the RHD problem is solved..

The overpay in picks is for salary retention. 50% is max.

Taxes. I’m with dreger on this one. If it’s 8 years it’s over 11

You realize Dreger is best friends with Marner’s dad right? Like, seriously.

Maybe. I dunno about the whole tax narrative. Think there's more to it. Anyways.

I'm with Johnston on this one. If Marner demands that much coin he'll be traded.

Can't wait to see all the AGMs as that narrative gains traction.. trading Marner could really help out two teams in meaningful ways, if it comes to that

I’ve never understood the Subban shade. He’s been a top D for a decade now. Doughty too, but I’d never want any piece of that full contract for Doughty.

I follow him and he’s usually great. But well known to be in tight with Marner’s dad. And since his #1 source in Toronto was run out of the building when was the last time you remember him having good Leaf info? And most respected? Try that one again. Bobby Mac is the most respected by far.
