All of these Flames post acquiring Zucker (a player who has scored 33 goals in a season and scored over 20 in a down year without a playmaker getting him the puck) for pennies is going to drive me nuts this offseason. Make the pick a 1st, swap Czarnik for Kylington, and you have yourself a deal.

Since the rumoured deal is Frolik and a first for Zucker, I don't think any prospects will be involved.

I like Brodie, but I don't think Detroit will commit a top 40 pick for him. If we wanted to talk a different second rounder or even a 3rd and another mid round pick I would say yes. But Detroit also has to figure out how to get rid of a lot of dead weight. Detroit has to make at least one move if not two to take on Brodie. If Kronwall returns Detroit would need to find a way to move two of these three defensemen: Green, Ericsson, and Daley.

That was prior to the deadline. Zucker played much better afterwards (raising his value) and now non-playoff teams that weren't looking to add a guy like Zucker at the deadline would be open to doing so. This theoretical increase in demand would raise his price. That's why I think it'd now cost the Flames more than what they initially offered.

He didn't play any better. He had the hat trick the first game back, but then reverted to his previous form. I don't think he raised his value any. You might be right about more suitors, but he isn't worth more because of a month of hockey.

Did you watch all of our games? Because he absolutely played better, he did not "revert back to his previous form". Points aren't everything. And not directly, but indirectly a month of hockey raises his value since Fenton can (and has with other players) change his opinion about what he would accept in a deal. Take Eriksson Ek, Fenton was reported to be shopping him in December and January, but Eriksson Ek started shutting down some of the best players in the league starting in late January. This caused Fenton to stop shopping him since he realized Eriksson Ek had more value than he initially thought. The same can be applied to Zucker: Zucker played admirably better in the last month and a half of the season which could (and should) potentially cause Fenton to raise what he'd accept in a trade.

He had a 7 game hot streak (6g/2a), then turned back into a pumpkin. He finished out the last 14 (must win) games of the season with 1g/4s, -11. Prior to that little hot streak he had 1g/5a, +/-0 in 16 games. Or the 1g/1a, -7 in 14 games from Dec-Jan.

His value is garbage. 14g/14a (non-PPP) last season for $5.5m/yr, those are 3rd line numbers. That 33g (bloated by like 7 ENG) season isn't going to carry much weight anymore.

I think the Flames want to try and move Kylington for a bigger piece than Zucker and I also don't think it'll be until the TDL before the expansion draft. Also, you guys have Fenton so I wouldn't count on you guys making any good trades anytime soon.
