As a Kings fan, as much as I would love to see Phaneuf get traded without salary retention, that's not gonna happen unless there's a quality sweetener going back the other way.

I don't see Carter getting moved at this point either. Unfortunately after the season he just had, he doesn't have positive trade value. Not to mention that the Kings don't have anyone to take over at 2C if they do trade him. Kempe is NOT a quality option for 2C. Their best bet is to hang onto him for another season and see if he can return to form under McLellan. If he does, he will improve his trade value and possibly be an option for a contender at the 2020 trade deadline.

Calgary trade seems like fair value, but I'm betting the Kings trade Campbell before they trade Quick. Campbell just put up quality numbers playing on a terrible team, meaning his trade stock will be significantly higher, especially considering his cap hit. They're likely going to lose Campbell in 2021 anyway to Seattle, so they might as well move the one that nets a better return. Has a side benefit of allowing the hall of fame goaltender to remain in LA to mentor Petersen.

Martinez isn't worth a 1st round pick, let alone a 1st round pick and another pick. I can see him getting moved for a 2nd + 3rd or prospect equivalents.

I appreciate your comments and actually agree with the Carter/Phaneuf/Quick observations. Maybe I am going a bit high for Martinez but I don't think that it's crazy. Maybe a second that can become a first if he plays 70 games in the next season? I think a first is good because he's a good top 4 D-Man and has a good contract. Only one year older than Muzzin (although Muzzin is better defensively [mostly due to size], Marty can skate slightly better to produce offense a little more). Muzzin got two B (or A/B ?) prospects and a low first. I think that Marty is worth a first, second/third ain't bad either.
