How in the hell is Kapanen only going to get $2.5 mill if anything he will be traded if you only think he'll make that much.

I think there are teams that would take a chance on Marleau since he only has a year left. It may need a sweetener or retained salary though. The question is, where is he willing to go?

Only teams I could see wanting Marleau are teams that are trying to reach the cap floor, but those are probably the teams that Marleau wouldn't waive his NMC for. Marleau lost his best asset: his speed. He's old, expensive, and is owed bonus money. Your best shot is trading him after you pay his bonus, and then add value in picks/prospects/roster players to a team that Marleau would waive for. But, then again, what contending team is going to be okay with $6.25M in cap space evaporating for a fourth liner?
