with the cap at 83 and horton on ltir you could probably offersheet Point for 1 million max and still have room to add stralman for league minimum.

I don't think it's realistic to think Thornton will be worth that at 47 years of age....but everything else seems realistic.

You hear maybe he will take a home town discount all the time. But I haven't been able to find an single instance of it happening in real life.

Partly because we don't ever find out what other offers were on the table. Supposedly Tavares was offered more elsewhere, and we know that players like Crosby, Malkin and McDavid - while not playing in their hometowns - could have demanded and received more than they signed for.

Yeah with Tavares you could also say he took less because Toronto gives him the best chance to win a cup.
