Not a Devils fan, but I've wondered the same thing. I highly doubt it, just look at their centre core. I guess Zacha still has time and maybe you don't trade McLeod and give him a spot on the third line, but why hold onto maybes when Hughes looks like the real deal? Their wing depth is okay and there are some good wingers in the second round (Brayden Tracey kinda interests me). Positionally, it doesn't make sense and every mock draft or rankings I've seen have Hughes at 1.

I'd love to see some drama at the draft tables though, that would make for a fun evening

I'm gonna wait until after the worlds coming up to decide on Hughes/Kakko. Scouts have Hughes at number 1 still....but they say its razor thin. I want to see how both these guys do playing against NHL talent!
