I beg to differ if Fox plays 30 games this season. 2 2nds for a player for Carolina that he wasn’t going to sign for. Don Waddell probably made the most out of him.

Holy Crap,

I thought for sure he would ask for a 1 year ELC
(i guess because he is 2 years younger he can't?)

Getting him on a full ELC is a nice signing for the Rangers

I didn't realize he was still only 21,

ELC length is set by age; players can't just ask for a number of years their ELC lasts.

I figure that's what it was but i was sure

So, Schuldt could sign a 1 year ELC because he was 23 and will be automatically arbitration eligible at 24?
is that how it works?

Both teams can win a trade. CAR has already won the trade b/c he wasn't gonna play there and they drafted him w/ a 3rd rounder. They've already upgraded big time. NYR win big if Fox pays off and they can dump Shattenkirk and Smith sooner than later. Wow! All of the sudden the Rangers are looking much better. First, they land #2 overall pick, then, WPG gets knocked out early, and now the Fox trade. I also think they'll be in on trying to sign Panarin this summer.

what a whiny ****. I hate players who refuse to play for any team except their own favorite team growing up. Be like Tavares or Shattenkirk and wait until you hit Unrestricted Free Agency to sign with your dream team

If he played out his senior year at Harvard and hadn't signed with Carolina, he would have hit UFA status, making your point moot. You can't force players to sign contracts, and he is well within his rights to make his own decisions regarding his future, a la Jimmy Vesey, Cal Petersen, etc.

I guarantee you wouldn't be so upset if a Toronto-born player pulled this same move so he could sign with the Leafs.
