Description
Nilsson added for a backup to Rittich, who should be given a chance to take over the starter job.

Stralman aded for veteran, big body presence with a RHS. Dont think they can sign him for under 3 years though (he'll only be 35 at the end of the contract anyways)

Hopefully the trades have even values. Please comment!

Unless you’re retaining half Frolik’s salary it’s a no, that or accept a 5th and 7th

Trade value's are are fairly good actually, lines need some reshaping but those get changed all the time. I'd use some of the cap space to go after a better goalie, not sold on Rittich being able to play 60+ games or Gillies being able to play 25+ games. Varlamov could be a good fit on a 1 year deal to regain his form. I'd say he'd be in the range of $3-$4M at most and the leaves some cap left over still

Lol. No. it's $4.3M for a useful 3rd liner that can kill penalties. He's more of a cap dump, yes, but retaining half is definitely not necessary. He only has 1 year left on the deal and the coach is familiar with him.. At most 15% retained but even that's a stretch since the return is so little.

Yeah I think you're really undervaluing Frolik here. He is a great penalty killer, can play 2nd line and coach Q loves him.

Also Florida has no depth at all. Players like Sheahan, Brouwer Sceviour and Malgin are on that team...

Edited to add Nilsson. Didnt want to add someone like Varlamov because he has the pedigree to be a starter, and I really think Rittich need to be given a chance to take the reins. Nilsson is more of a backup type.

Not undervaluing at all on the Cats he’s a 3-4 liner and you don’t pay them 4 mil even if it’s for one year. Cats need goaltending and a stud top pair shutdown D man more than a 4 million dollar penalty killer. I personally like Frolik, spoke with him multiple times when he originally played for the Cats. Just saying the Cats having more important things to spend their money on than him.

I agree he is a little rich, but imo FLA is ready to push for that wildcard spot in the east, and he is the type of player every playoff team needs and the type FLA tbh have 0 of. I think retaining ~1.0M wouldnt be a problem, and its not like cap issues is huge in FLA. From the games i've seen, forward depth and goaltending is what is holding them back. Just my two cents.
