The lower the salary for Marner the longer the contract term. Six year would yield $11m plus. Max term length would yield lower. Kapanen and AJ are not signing that cheap for three years. Interesting trade with NYR though, but DeAngelo is favored in NY and a needed RD. With Fox in, Pionk is easiest to trade. Mikheviev as second line is a big guess.

Give New York a third round pick or something equivalent and I think they'll accept that

Tf are you talking about? It's the exact opposite actually. The longer the term, the more the AAV because it buys out more UFA years.. everyone knows that. Duh.

Kapanen probably gets a 2 year deal right around that amount, and Johnsson probably gets a 3 year deal worth a little more, maybe $500K so it's not far off at all.

$10.5M for 6 years is actually pretty good value for Marner. With the full term he's probably over $12M actually.

Funny that your tag name is "hockey101" yet you don't seem to know anything about how hockey works. LOL

6 x 10.5 is actually on the higher end, especially if you factor in position and goals vs assists

Why do leafs fans always think they're gonna get Kapanen to sign a team friendly bridge for under 3 mil. Any team with a 2nd rd pick in the draft is going to offer sheet him $4mi x 5yrs and his agent is gonna tell him to accept

You’re right, my mistake. Used to be that way for UFAs, not RFAs. Sorry about that!
