Description
Not a shabby team.

Carolina gets a young goaltender, who at times seems shaky but I think needs a change of scenery. They also get a 4th for taking a maybe NHL back-up but a hit minor starter. They give up two later round picks which I think the GM/Owner would be ok with.

Holl and Borgman are rarely seen playing but that's because Babs doesn't give scratches much playing time and Borgman has seen his time go down due to rehabing an injury. The team they are being dealt to gets two mid 20s defencemen that are good depth. Maybe even one mid-late pick gets this deal done.

Connor Brown to Edmonton....well enough said. No. Browns ice time was taken away when Marleau came here so his scoring has taken a hit but I believe on a team that will play him more will get a certified player who can contribute on any line and on special teams. He's worth a 3rd on his own I believe honestly but they 4th is to make sure the deal gets done...it may not even be needed.

I like Lawson Crouse, seen him play in juniors and got to catch one game in the minors and I was impressed. I seen a Andreas Johnsson type new-age power forward there, this trade is just me bein selfish. I like Gauthier and all, nice guy, proved he is a NHL'er this year but he was just next on the chopping block, Who knows maybe the 3rd rounder gets it done alone.

I can't stand Kadri. Good player, great shut down guy, honestly think he should be on the PK. But he plays for that name on the back and not the logo on the front. Too many times he has seen the red mist and done dumb stupid sheeeeeeeet. I don't want that going forward. NYR gets a 2nd line Center on a good contract and give up a height 3rd line center and a mid round pick.

Leafs eat one year of Ganger and give up a slew of late round picks to take Zaitsev. Edmonton gets picks and a top 4 Dman who can spread his offensive wings with McJesus. Babs has Zaitsev playing a style not suited for him so I believe it might be best for him. This doesn't have to be Edmonton, I was also gunna do Arizona for Grabner.

Johnsson to the Kings, I believe one of Johnsson or Kappy will go. Kappy had a up and down yeah but was used in a defence role on his line while Auston carried Johnsson to the net. Johnsson is to...for lack of a better term..."soft" for my liking. Complains when he takes a clear penalty, complains when he can't draw one, complains when a fan asks for a autograph (Met the dude) Buddy thinks he's high and mighty. LA gets a fast young winger that can play in their top 6 and can put up some points.

I can't see NYR taking on Kadri and giving up on Howden while they are trying to rebuild.

Other then that I think all other moves make sense. Athough I think Tyler Ennis was great in Toronto and they should bring him back.

Really like the McQuaid, I was very surprised the Leafs never got him at the trade deadline this year.

What's the fascination about trading Holl, Borgman, Sparks and Gauthier? They don't affect the Leafs cap even if sent to the AHL. Giving away Johansson. Trading for AHLer Gagner.

Why on earth would the Leafs trade Zaitsev who is a serviceable NHL player for a guy who wouldn't be a top player on the farm team let alone make the team?

Holl, Sparks, and Gauthier need to pass through waivers to be sent down, why lose them for nothing? I'm fine with keeping Borgman if he doesn't need waivers.

If those players aren't NHLers to make the Leafs next season, they won't be good enough for their new teams either. So when they are waived, and not claimed, those teams have wasted those picks. Not saying the picks are really of any value, but still.
Don't think the Sharks have any desire or cap for Marleau any more than the Leafs do....even at half price.

Pretty good values other than Marleau ain't going anywhere and no one wants zaitsev or gagner, that trade would hurt both teams. Zaitsev sucks. Oilers dont want bad contracts. Actually cant have bad contracts
