Is this possibly the first indication of a crappy UFA contract coming back to haunt the team?
With his cap hit, it really limits which teams are even able to acquire him.
Not many teams in game sitting on $10M in open cap space, and if they are it's unlikely they use it this early in the season.
I for one am right up against the cap, which really hinders any chance of me making deals right now.

(He didn't make the signing, previous GM did...)
But I see your point. I think last year, the BOG literally made up a rule called the "Booth Rule", by reverting absurd player contracts in game, to their IRL ones. I also wouldn't call it crappy, he did get more IRL. My suggestion is that we either (A.) Allow more retention spots, (B) pull the Booth Rule on some contracts, or (C), all of the above.

why pull the booth rule? if the gm made a dumb mistake real life gms cant take back bad contracts haha.
Which is why I gave another option... I would suggest the more retention spots personally. That whole thing also relates to the lasting of this game.
I may be the only one who thinks this way and thats fine but i think there should honestly be less retention in game (which will directly drive player contracts down). ive seen this brought up before. guys with massive contracts shouldnt be retained on. I understand its a game but there should be some semblance or realism no? or are we going full EA NHL GM mode?

Im pretty sure they had to revise some trade bc of the retention on star players. I.E Kessel Trade was revised
