Marner takes offer sheet

Created by: ninetythreein93
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: May 6, 2019
Published: May 6, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just having fun with this one, not sure if this is even possible but knowing the Rangers are going to offer sheet Marner the Leafs decide that they can't have 3 $10M+ players & take the picks, they sign & trade Marner before the 2019 draft, Leafs take only 3 1sts because one of them is Kakko.

Anaheim starts the rebuild.

Well dur, free agency starts after the draft. The first pick would be in 2020. Leafs happily match 7x11 I think

If NYR offer sheets, they won't be giving 2019 pick. They'll give 2020-2023 first rounders.

But if the offer is 11x7, I think TOR matches.

Oh, and ANA declines easily that one.

Kakko's caphit will be 925K for the next three years. Whoever made this doesn't know how contracts work.

The bonuses will still count towards the cap is what im saying so this is technically what his ELC will be worth for all 3 years assuming he hits all the bonuses 3 times

Okay I didn’t read the description, now I have.
So, this isn’t an offer sheet like the title says. If a trade were to happen it would be the second overall for Marner, no kickers.

Kappo's bonuses will take him to $3.775M, and performances do count against the cap: "on day one of the season, every performance bonus on every contract for a player on the 23-man roster could be earned through the season. Assuming they are, the total of these potential bonuses must fit inside the available cap space the team has"

Read the effing description, it's not an offer sheet. It's based on a theoretical whereby to avoid an offer sheet Toronto does a sign and trade before the draft. NYR essentially get Marner and a 1st (since they only give up 3 firsts in this deal) for Kakko and 2 1sts .

As for ANA, they need to rebuild and they need guys that score, Manson's good, not great and Nylander is 3 years younger then Rackell and can play center.

I am not sure "happily" but I am certain they'd match that. I think they are hoping to get him at or under 10 million.

Even if it's Kakko + 2 firsts, NYR wouldn't do that. They'd rather offer sheet than lose the chance to draft at 2nd overall this year.

And Manson definitely is a great D. Also he's literally the only NHL level RHD in the Ducks, by far, making it extremely unlikely for them to give him up.

1 bad season where the team severely underperformed playing for Carlyle, even though they made the playoffs 6 years in a row and two western conference finals appearances before that. Next season new coach and a healthy team with guys like Steel, Terry, Comtois making the jump they should be back in a wild card spot.

I love the optimism re: guys like Steel, Terry, Comtois but that's all it is is optimism, the 3 of them combined for 12 goals in 61 games last year so they need to take quantum leaps all the while Getzlaff, Perry and Kesler slide further into oblivion.

Anaheim scored the least goals in the NHL last year and had the 4th worst goals differential in the keague. The only reason they were close to being competitive was that Gibson played out of his mind for the first half of the year, once he came back to earth they won 16 games, of 44, after Christmas which is a 60 point pace. In addition they have, assuming an $83M cap, only $11M in space with only 16 players signed. They are a mess so acquiring a 23 year old with already 2 60 point seasons and a 1st round pick in return for a 28 year old D man who provides no offense and a 26 year old winger coming off the worst year of his career while shedding $1M in cap hit seems a decent idea.
