If I'm that close to the cap I keep Brown rather than get a playoff 3rd. Also Dubas loses his job with the NJD trade

Keep Nylander and trade Kadri for a guy with less offense but can kill penalties and costs half as much as Kadri. That would be better in my eyes. Although I am not sold on Miller, he's just the flavour of the week because he had a good season and now has a reputation.

That guy is hell bent on trading Nylander for a bag of nuts and an old sweater. Nylander right up until he held out was considered very close to Marner in talent. One bad year and many idiots on here think he's worthless and a bust now. Its a joke, he's a top level Right Winger and playmaker. The Leafs very easily could have 4 guys in the top 25 in scoring on any given year in Marner, Matthews, Tavares and Nylander. Trading any of them is dumb, unless its a deal you just can't say no to.

I agree completely. Palhal really has it out for nylander. I wonder if he realizes we could trade marner for a top rhd and Save the same amount of money?

Could save even more if we just trade marner for a 2nd

That would be his reasoning, along with then we can pay Kapanen and Johnsson 4.5 million each because thats smarter than keeping Nylander or Marner.

I like palhal a lot. His assement of nylanders value however, I do not trust.

Palhal is dumping the Cap with Nylander. Actually sometimes when doing that, you dont get what the player is worth but what you can afford to stay under the Cap....

as i said many times, i see Nylander stay while Kadri, Brown and Kapanen / Zaitsev dumped to make it

Nylander proved exactly what many people thought he was; a good supporting role player for a top player in this case Matthews. Take Matthews away from him and the leafs end up with the product they got this season. You decide if that's worth a $7M cap hit and should be discussed in the same context of Marner's abilities.

Playing against guys in mid season form when you haven't had a training camp or the 1st third of the season and what you get is a guy who is missing the timing, or game shape to be at his top level. So please keep telling me how bad Nylander is and how much his contract is terrible and other stuff only to then trade for him by giving up a bunch of garbage because you don't want Nylander and he's a bad player. You're transparent man, you are a fan of Nylander and desperately want him on your team.

Actually I threw out 2 trades and both were of fair value. He's a good player but not at A type of player. Difference between being realistic in his value and wanting him versus having your head in the clouds and thinking without Matthews as his center he's putting up 60+ points.

Is that the new narrative? A professional athlete making $12M this season wasn't in game shape so he played poorly for 54 games; got it. tears of joy

I don't "desperately want" Nylander. I'd much rather have a A type of player like Skinner, Panarin, Hoffman as you can see by the teams I've created but for B+ guys, I've made a couple teams with Nylander and many more with Dzingel. Hawks need another winger in a supporting role; Nylander, Nyquist or Dzingel can both fill that void.

That said, Toronto is cap screwed and prime for the plucking!

Marner can hold his own line; he has twice the hockey IQ of Nylander; Marner is a top 10 in the league as far as hockey IQ which is a lot of the reason he's worth $10.5M and Nylander isn't even close to that.

Yes, because you say so... marner has never held his own line. Despite being a natural centre as well. It was nylander who was drawn upon to carry his own line two seasons. Funny isn’t it.
