Rangers fans talk to me

Created by: Jangle29
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: May 7, 2019
Published: May 7, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This deal is based around the idea that the Rangers agree to buyout Marleau so he can sign UFA with another club. I am assuming they can fit the cap hit and we all know they have the cash to make it happen.
I get the ideal the rangers may tank another year. Here is a deal to build around and I'm wondering what tweaking it would need as I do not know the exact value of Kreider.

Don't know why you're saying 4m. Leafs are going to pay his bonus July1. , so his actual money output for a buyout is 1m.

He has to be bought out before July 1st

I think there would be a strong possibility that the league would not allow the Marleau deal if he was to resign with Toronto as it is circumventing the cap rules. Marleau has to waive his no movement clause for the trade and he would probably only do that if he knew he was going to be bought out NYR and resigned with Toronto before he did so and that makes it clearly look like the deal was only done to circumvent the cap rules. If Marleau retires then I see no problem with this deal.

Agree. I do not think he would resign. I see him going back to SJ if anywhere but who knows.
