Duchene Ghost Ratcliffe

Created by: CaptainFlynnt
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 27, 2019
Published: May 7, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Contract projections for some potential UFA targets:
Duchene 28 (1st Line C @ 7 yr × $8M)
Dzingel 27 (2nd Line LW @ 4 yr × $4.75M)
Skinner 27 (1st Line LW @ 7 yr × $8.25M)
Panarin 27 (Elite LW @ 7 yr × $10.25M)
Ferland 27 (3rd Line LW @ 4 yr × $4.5M)
Johansson 28 (3rd Line LW @ 4 yr × $4.5M)

Duchene contract comes with a full NMC.

I'm aware the philly trade probably isn't right. Feel like philly is giving up more than MTL, but this is the basis for the trade so feedback would be appreciated.

Putting 50 goals at 20 yo in the OHL having Nick Suzuki as Center it’s easy

LOL I really hope that's sarcasm cause no he won't be. At best he'll be a 2nd line guy.

Well Reilly is a ´thrown in’ that’s not worth much on the Habs side of the deal. Considering depending on the people on here Ghost for Drouin goes back and forth on whose worth more, but for arguments sake let just call them equal. So trying to acquire Ratcliffe gets kinda complicated. Seeing he was drafted early in the 2nd rd, you probably need something similar going the other way.

The only reason I'm interested in Ratcliffe is because I'd like to have him playing in the NHL next year with Suzuki. They're both from London and they have pretty good chemistry in Guelph right now.

Ratcliffe is not a super star. He is a big player in a junior league. He had 82 pts in 65 games. McCarron was a big player in a junior league who had 68 pts in 56 games, a pace of 79 pts in 65 games (pretty similar to Ratcliffe). 4 years later (going on 5) McCarron is still an AHL player.

If Ratcliffe is a dealbreaker, then the habs just go for Ghost. I'm pretty confident however, that Ratcliffe isn't worth that much, but he should be worth more than Reilly so the habs would have to add, I'm just not sure what that is.

Juulsen. But Suzuki & Ratfliffe will play in the AHL next year. Even Poehling will play AHL

I thought Juulsen, but he just doesn't seem like a realistic trade option right now, given his injuries last season.

I feel like Fluery and Brook will only boost their trade value next season, so I wouldn't trade either of them either.

Probably just better off leaving Ratcliffe out of it.. Suzuki will make anyone he plays with look good anyways.

While I don’t agree that Ratcliffe will be a superstar, saying he only scored because of Suzuki is just plain ignorant. I suggest you take a closer look at his stats.

This is a hard pass from Philly.

As I figured, I'm not that big on Ratcliffe either but I like the idea of building their chemistry from junior in the AHL next season. Is this more doable without ratcliffe?

What if it was Drouin and Reilly for Gostisbehere? MTL can sign a LW or C in free agency, Philly can sign a top 4 RD.

The consensus on here is that Ghost for Drouin Is pretty fair. If you wanted Ratcliffe I’m not sure what the ask would be as I don’t see us taking anything less than and early 2nd rounder (where he was drafted).

I'm thinking a year later you would not be calling this a hard pass?

Like Mike Reilly was better than Ghost last year and Ratcliffe, unsurprisingly struggled in the AHL (like I said with McCarron, these big guys have a harder time once they leave Junior).

I was way off with suggesting this trade.. although the idea behind it was Ghost needing a change of scenery, maybe things would have been different in MTL.
