REALISTIC 2019 Flyers team

Created by: MGabes19

Initial Creation Date: May 7, 2019

Description
I don't see TOR being able to keep all of their RFAs and Sami's son belongs in Philly lol. I also don't see big name players wanting to come and play for Philly; I assume they will want to move to teams that have an immediate chance to win. Defense is still a weakness and I doubt Fletch will do much to fix it. Obviously this is just my opinion so don't get mad online.

I think the Leafs would let you have him for that contract. However, they likely trade him before offer sheets can be made if they don't have him signed.

The kid put up 50 last year, didn't he? And if he is offer sheeted, they have to offer a price that TOR can't match

He's a good player. Wouldn't give up a first and third for him though.

44 points in 1 year doesn't get you $6 mil. If it does then you better bump Konecny above what Kapanen gets!

True, and I'm not saying its a fair value, but I think that is the price they are going to have to pay in order for TOR to be unable to match. It is a lot of money and I don't like giving up a 1st and 3rd, but from what I have seen in Fletch's history, he is more than willing to overpay players lol.

If that's the cost, I'd rather pay Duchene $9 than Hayes $6.5 and get a cheaper winger.

Toronto is not in as bad shape cap wise as people think. They can move Kadri and/or Muzzin rather than lose Kapanen or Marner. Their cap issues are a bit overblown in my opinion. Not saying they are in GREAT shape, but their situation isn't exactly dire either.

Speaking of cap issues, are you aware you only left yourself $9.7M next year to sign Myers, Patrick, Lindblom and Hagg?

Hayes is worth 5mil at best. Kapanen 6mil? He’s had 1 full year in NHL. Also you didn’t address defense at all which is a big issue. 3mil for talbot who had back to back years of under .900 save %?

We don't need to re-sign Hagg, he's a 7D at best. And dependent on the years that Lindblom, Myers and Patrick have, 9.7M absolutely could be enough. If not, the problem could be solved by signing Talbot to a 1 year deal this summer instead of a two-year deal. If one of Sandstrom/Ustimenko/Lyon can step up as backup, they will be in great shape cap wise.

Again, not saying I want this, I am just speculating on what I think will happen. And Fletch has a tendency to overpay players. Signing UFAs almost always require overpayment. I agree that this doesn't address defensive woes, but I just don't see anything major happening this offseason. I am hoping for a strong defenseman in the draft because, to me, that's the only realistic route.

A legit top 4 defenseman should be priority #1 (Trouba, Subban, Tyler Myers). AV also hated Hayes on rangers. We’ll see what Fletcher does.
