Colin Miller is a defensive liability who needs to play sheltered minutes. Rather keep Virtanen.

Go ahead and sign Mats Zuccarello to an 8 million dollar 2 year deal and see how that works out for you

hes not an 8 million dollar a year player, hes a career 40-50 point player why would you voluntarily overpay about 3 million dollars when you could use that to fill a need in your bottom six

Because the Canucks have money for the next two years and Zucc would be a solid addition to the top 6. Canucks need top 6 wingers and it's better than overpaying and committing to a Nyquist or Dzingel for 5-6 years. The Canucks also don't need to spend another 3 mil on a Beagle or Roussel for the bottom six so I would get that idea out of your head.

it still doesn't make any sense at all... You're voluntarily going to use up cap space by overpaying a player when you have no idea what might happen and you might end up needing that 3 million dollars to bring someone in at the deadline or something

Even if Zucc was signed at 8 M the Canucks would still have like 5 M for flexibility so what you're saying doesn't make any sense. It's also not a risky sign at all, in fact it's really safe. Zucc is a consistent 40-50 point guy and didn't join the league till later in his career so he's still got enough in the tank to play well for at the least 2 more years. I'm just curious how you would propose the Canucks go about adding players and offense to their lineup?

my man there are so many ways to add offense to your line up, you can go after a free agent, you could offer sheet somebody, you could make a trade, you could sign a college or European free agent. What im confused by is why you think overpaying doesn't matter. Even if you had five million in cap space you still don't want to voluntarily throw away three million. Lets say for ****s and giggles you decide to offer sheet matthew Tkachuk. But all you have in cap space is that five million. The Calgary flames are going to match that offer no questions asked. You could at least be more competitive with lets say 8 million dollars in cap space to offer sheet Tkachuk or somebody like that.
