The Nylander offers are getting ridiculous. 10 months ago he was equal to Marner in value and now you can't get anything that'll likely be in the top half of a lineup for him.

We live in an age of extremism. He'll start the season with Matthews and they'll come out of the gate like gangbusters, Matthews will again have something stupid like 15 goals in his first 10 games and Nylander will have 15 points or something stupid and all of a sudden he'll be worth everything in the world and Marner will be the most overrated player in the league because he'll have 12 points in 10 games.

A guy has a stretch of 20 games where he plays well and he's a god and worth a kings ransom. Public perception is all about the flavor of the month and if you get hot, your value is about 2000% higher than it should be or a bad half season will make you garbage that isn't worth a 2nd rounder. Its stupid.

Nylander is a great player with his entire prime still ahead of him.

Pesce is a very good defender who's value is massively inflated right now.

Both fan bases should just stop talking to each other. Carolina keep Pesce, Leafs keep Nylander and everyone just stop it.

Okay cool, keep him. Nylander will be a top 25 scorer next year. I'll keep that.

LMAO He wasn't a top 25 scorer before he held out, why is he gonna be now? If he doesn't get matthews again, expect another abysmal season from him, people have seen he's nothing more than a Matthews product

25th in scoring last season was 82 points. Point per game +. Nylander was just at a half point per game this season, and has never topped more than 61 points. What makes you think he’ll see such a drastic improvement in his 5th professional season.

And Pesce isn't a product of the system played in Carolina? Say whatever you want. Keep Pesce and all your other defenders. I'm happy with Nylander and I'll enjoy watching him next season. Good luck against Boston, they are a very good team.

Because thats what young highly skilled players do. Look at pretty much any top end player and see when they have their breakout season. Its around the age of 24. Nylander is a highly skilled young player who will play in a high octane offense.

Really, you roll your eyes at a statistical fact. Most players hit their statistical peak around the age of 24. Look at McKinnon. Or Kucherov, or Panarin or Crosby, or almost anyone. Most players have their biggest year around the age of 24. So its far more reasonable that a player that showed as much promise and talent as Nylander has, will get better. Is he a point a game player? This past season, he had a terrible start after missing training camp and a third of the season. This past season is far more likely an outlier than what he can do. Everyone knows this too, the people that don't are either media idiots who care trying to create a firestorm, or people who don't like the Leafs and enjoy trolling leaf fans.

I don't know man. If he carried his momentum from the last month of the season into the playoffs it would be one thing. He looked like he didn't care.

I disagree, he's a tad soft but in the age of extremism that we live in, it gets blown out of proportion. He was dictated play when on the ice and did end up a plus 1 in the series. It would have been better had he not had ****ing Brown and Marleau for wingers. I was calling for Kapanen to get put down with Nylander and either Moore or Brown moving up to play with Matthews. Nylander had several nice setups to Brown and Marleau and they did nothing with them. He could have and should have had more points. There was one save that Rask made in which Brown would have shot the puck across the crease had Rask not been there. Had the entire net to shoot at and shot it at the goalie who wasn't at all in a position to make the save.

Couldn't be truer, Nylander is fine and Pesce is a great player but they're not on the same planet skill or value wise.

Good luck against them in the 1st round next year

Pesce isn't a product of the system, when you change headcoach and the player doesn't change in the slightest, he's not a product of the system, Pesce is one of the best shut down D men in the league and if you ever wanna get past Boston, you're gonna need someone like him and the price for him in particular is Nylander.

As for Boston, we'll see if you can do something you haven't done since 1967, make the finals
