Both taking bridge deals to show they are worth the money they are claiming, playing on mediocre C and not leetching on Matthews.

Faksa ( 12 + 33 ) = 3 x 2,2M

Insider comparables :
Hyman ( 6 + 28 ) = 4 x 2,25M

There is no reason why Kapanen and Johnsson should accept less money and term than they are entitled too. Now deciding "what is fair" is questionable. Sure screams offer, a one year deal.
Something like the Larsson deal might have to be deal, but realistically it leaves the Leafs 4m over the cap, because Marleau isn't a year long LTIR. Stalman stays in Tampa for less money.

I gave the comparables...you think they are entitled for more ? Johnsson refused 2 x 2,1M and 4 x 2,6M.....so 1 x 2,7M "show us if you are real or just leetching" would be pretty much on the spot. Hes arbitration-bound this year i think....i doubt "Arbiters" will get him more.....check Danault ( MTL )



Stralman proly, so if we distract his 3M plus 2,4M left in the basket.....we are just 800k shy to have Marleau in Team regulary. Lets see what Dubarelli will pull out of the sh.t-pot he stirred himself ( ok, Lou helped with Marleau signing and Zaitsev overpayment )

Lou would have sign Matthews for 10.5 for 5 years last summmer. Nylander to 6.5 for 7 started the season in Toronto. Marner 7.2 for 5 years. Traded Kapanen, Sparks and Dermott with this years 1st pick for Karlsson. He also would have paid a little more to get Skinner. NO Tavares.

In a perfect world yes....would be nice to have all that, agreed, except Tavares, he was bound to came here from the day he was drafted ( and when Burke wanted to recruit him in before he would enter the draft, i remember contraversials about that situation back then )
