Just screwing the oilers over on every trade. They have incompetent management that can do that on their own.

Not overly we have a log jam at lhd an Jones with Russell makes sense he left a bit of cap to make a splash in trade deadline if we do get that far also stralman makes a bit more imo

I don't know why people are afraid or concerned for the Oilers now we are 2 years away from have loads of cap space with prospect pool that is looking better now then it has in many years. So sign handful short term UFA try to fight for wildcards then in 2 years with prospects ready and over 30-35M in cap space can try to add the pieces to be a contender. Truly believe any other path will be a mistake with expansion draft coming any long term contract you add now likely will take another protected slot.

Seeing Stralman play last season, he took a major step back cause of injury and he's 34. He's still a capable player, but I can't see him signing for any more than $3 M

So are you in favor of this plan or no?

I wouldn't do the Russell swap that's throwing away future top 4 dman. Lucic-Eriksson swap is fine but I'd add equal retention on both sides so Lucic last year is less punishing and sweetener can be smaller( bonus each player would be easier to move again if they don't workout after swap). Brassard is expensive #4C could get player like Acciari for cheaper and better suited for 4th line role

Are you serious? Russell alone is worth a 3rd-4th rounder. Why would we add jones who will be a regular nhl player in 1-2 years. It’s a horrible trade. No other way to explain it.

I'd say switch Jones with Bear on that Ottawa trade.
Edmonton faces an equal Logjam on the Right. You've got Larson, Russel (sort of... plays both sides), Benning, Persson, Bouchard and Bear all looking to slot in 3 positions. Sure, you could leave Bouchard and Bear in the minors another half or full season, but next year you are still faced with the same dilemma.
Jones "Could" slot in RD position and play with Sekera who could be a great mentor for him. Once Sekera is gone, Jones can move up the slot on his regular LD position.
Next year, Benning can be dealt of kept as 3rd pair RD I guess. Slot in Bouchard in 2nd pairing RD. Larson as 1st pair.

But more importantly, Ottawa has a real logjam at LD and have NO RD apart from Ceci... and I guess DeMelo. They would value more a RD than LD as Chabot, Brannstrom and Wolanin are a sure fit for top 3 LD slots. And have NOTHING in the pipeline for RD options.
