Description

I am trying to find a way for the Hawks to get back into the top 10 to grab a F. I'm using Boqvist in this situation but you could interchange him with Beaudin or Mitchell. Not sure if its enough to get back into the top 10.

Edmonton takes that trade for sure, essentially swapping 2 first rounders (2018 & 2020) for 1 (2019).

Gotta be an EDM fan posting this. Boqvist...the #8OA...Developing really well...for the #8OA this year. Makes no sense. Maybe Ian Mitchell??? EDM native

The Edmonton trade is an overpay and the 2020 1st rd is the opposite of what they should be looking for. While still young, McDavid's career arc for Cup contending is now. They really need a few more middle 6 forwards that can score behind the McDavid line, not more prospects that might develop in 2-3 seasons.

Blackhawks might be a poor match for them in this but I think Edmonton would rather have someone take Lucic's or Gagner's contract(s) and try to get existing or near ready NHL talent. Ian Mitchell is a good thought, Gustafsson, Kahun....I'm not sure if they have any forward prospects that'd move the needle for EDM.

Why in the world would you give up the #8OA pick last year plus an additional 1st rounder next year to get he #8OA pick this year? Hawks are getting fleeced. Offering something like the 2020 1st plus Beaudin (#27OA last year) is more feasible. Or, Saad or Kahun plus the 2020 1st plus for the #8OA.

Like I said, I'm just looking for way back in to the top-10 by using a position that can be filled by 3 different players. Reading the comments, it does seem like an overpay.

This draft has a some top level depth at C/F and you can find a replacement for Toews. There is no one in the prospect pool that projects as a 2C let alone 1C. If you can use a position of relative strength to solidify your team down the middle for the future I would take it. It doesn't have to be Zegras but if you look at Dach, Cozens, Zegras and Turcotte, I would bet that one of them would still be there at 8.
