You do not want to take on that horrific Suter contract. 7.5 mil of cap space for a player who will be out of the league before his contract ends kills a teams cap space when its planning to contend.

He’s still a no 1 D for now no?
How many years does he have left ?
I think if they can give 2 good years as a top D and 2 other as a top 4, it could be a good deal for both clubs.
You then flip one of them for a rebuilding team looking for cap without salary.
Watching Chara play in his 40s in today’s league, I think both Suter and Weber have a few good years left

The cap recapture penalty should Suter retire is Minnesota's just like Weber's is Nashville's. He would be a great addition.

I don't understand the cap recapture penalty. It's like if the speed limit was changed from 55 to 45 on a street and you give me a ticket for going 55 when it was still legal... Gary Bettman is an employee of the owners...why would they let him do this???

First off Byron+#15 overall picks doesn't even come close to landing Ryan Suter, Secondly no way Suter waives his NMC for Montreal he's from Wisconsin Wife is from Minnesota he's not leaving a team that's close to home for Montreal. The trade is a joke to begin with.
