Lotta yikes here. Why are you paying to take on the terrible Miller and Callahan contracts? Tampa should be paying the rangers to take them. Why sign Buch for 3 years to bring him to UFA? Only option is 2 or 5+ for term that makes sense. Colorado isn’t trading 4th overall for a poo poo platter. I think Montreal is gonna pay more for Vesey.

I understand the cap implications... but how you value Miller in the deal with Tampa is not equivilant to what you're asking from Colorado.

Imagine trading 4th overall for JT Miller and Namestnikov? They'd be rioting outside the Pepsi Center.

The trade is for the # 16 (not #4)... top 5 picks are rarely moved (if ever)...taking Callahan and Miller is necessary to be able to move Callahan (w/Vlad) to Col for that #16...And in a very inexperienced line up, Callahan might be a good veteran presence, for the one year salary hit. For Vesey- if more can be obtained for him, I'm all for it...but he is what he is- a bottom 6, 35 point/yr player who can play on the PK, and can slot up/dn the line up. I figured he would fit Boston's style pretty well...hey, if he fits better elsewhere and/or the Rangers get a better return, so be it.

That's moving Miller to Colorado...Callahan stays in NY for 1 year...and being that he's often injured, Lettieri will get his share of playing time!
