Ranger fans would you like this - Trade with Toronto

Created by: Pullero
Team: 2019-20 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: May 11, 2019
Published: May 11, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Panarin 80mil 7year contract

It could also be Namestnikov who gets traded for picks but I kept him for russian presence.

Is TOR trade fair? If not what needs to be added or removed? Reportedly Rangers are willing to retain half of Shattenkirk's salary if they trade him.

Everyone on this site is hilarious... they act like shattenkirk is the worst player in the league. He didnt do very well with the rangers from a scoresheet perspective, but all of the underlying stats say this he is still a good serviceable top 4 dman, just a bad dollar amount for what he produces. If the NYR retained half salary and brought his cap hit to around 3.5M, that would be a tremendous value for what he could produce and is a right shot. So in my opinion people need to get their heads checked and think about these things before they make ludicrous comments...

underlying numbers....ya, I don't have much use for that when it comes to defensemen. I watch the guy play, and he is inept in his own end. It's not really a surprise that teams get better once they get rid of him. He can't play.

wow, it's almost like this comment proves Mbrunne's point. In his first year, shatty played with a bum knee and still produced at a 40 point pace for half the season. In his second year, the entire NYR defense was trash because the entire team was bad. The trade proposed above is horrible for NYR. If the Rangers make a trade with Toronto, they'll be taking Kapanen and Marleau so that Toronto can resign Marner and maybe Gardner if he wants to stick around to get booed every night.

if you're thinking about making a deep playoff run, shattenkirk can't play 5 on 5. Ask washington about that. They were the ones benching him because the guy just can't play 5 on 5.

5M from the cap w/ 3 RFAs to sign- one who prob wants 11M/yr- Leafs are going to have to make some tough decisions to sign their RFAs and fill out their defense...Losing Gardiner and Hainsey, Shatt isn't a terrible bottom 4 option at 1/2 salary retained...Brendan Smith is probably a better option (1/2 salary retained) for bottom pairing- can play D and provides the little extra grit the Leafs always fall short on when going against Boston.

Ok well good luck getting a dman for 3.5M cap hit that can play on the right side and be used on the pp without giving up a kings ransom. Listen by all means I am not a shatty fan, but the idea that this guy at 3.5M per year isn't good considering that leafs fans are always trying to trade away zaitsev and he makes 4.5M and shatty is better than zaitsev IMO and would than be much cheaper. So put that in perspective that at 6.5M per year, shatty is awful but at 3.5M, that is pretty good value and can help out a team. Not saying he would put TOR over the edge but considering the kind of cap troubles and lack of defense options available, this might be a decent route

You think the Leafs primary concern is finding a guy to play on the powerplay? No. They need to find guys that can stop them from fishing the puck out of their net. The guy can't play 5 on 5 in the playoffs.

I agree with both of you. Brendan Smith at half his number is better value than half of Shattenkirk... and the last thing they need is a powerplay specialist.
