Seabrook has negative value, even with that retention. It would make sense that SJ would possibly be willing to swap a FWD for a D, but not sure if Meier would be the guy they sacrifice. If Thornton retires and Nyquist leaves as a UFA (which I think he will), Meier stays

Problem is Seabs isn't waiving as he is has said he wants to retire a Hawks and work with the organization after his career. Aside from that, SJ doesn't have cap space. Love Timo and Dillon but they wouldn't do it.

I mean... a third overall pick is a pretty good asset. Gus is a pretty good asset

Seabrook has negative value granted, but at a reduced cap hit I think some team might like his leadership quality’s and what he can bring to a bottom 4

I think this is at least considerable, but I could be wrong.

Minus Strome; the guy is not a first liner...he has lead in his skates.

The good news on Strome, is he's staying in Chicago this summer to work out with the strength coach. Maybe he can work on his feet.

I know your not high on the guy, but I think him and DeBrincat TOGETHER are first liners. Add in Meier and you have a pretty good line on your hands.

I would love Strome on the 3rd line, I question his lack of speed for the 2nd line. Debrincat is also definitely not a 1st liner. Everytime the hawks have tried that the kid gets manhandled. He's much better against the opponents 2nd or 3rd lines. 1st line guys are generally too physical which is why Toews does well and Kane is so elusive, something Strome and Cat are not. Strome is like Kadri in the sense they are tweener 2nd/3rd line centers. Either you have a decent 2nd line C or an great 3rd line C.

Meh, not worth arguing with the limited sample size we have. Keep an open mind.

I think NJ might have to add more than just the 1st overall to get Johnny Haymakers

Contrary to some opinions on this post I think Chicago just edges out NJ on that trade.
