why would the leafs trade a 25 yo 30 point player who is payed 2 mil per year for a 30 yo 20 point player who makes the same? and why would they throw in a third too?

It'll take at least a 2nd, otherwise there's no reason for Detroit to move him

Because it's not a fair comparison considering the offensive firepower Leafs have up and down lineup and it's not all about points anyway. Glendening provides things you need to win. Tough, gritty, high iq, high character, strong defensive 4C, good at faceoffs and has some offensive ability,

The reason as i understand for the additional 3rd is simply the Leafs would initiate trade talks meaning they want/need Glendening and the wings really dont have a huge hole where Brown would drastically improve them. As a straight up player vs player talent analysis the value would seem to be close to even. This is just not a good hockey/value deal for the Leafs. Bottom line is Det doesn't need to move Glendening and if a team wants him Det has every right to set a price. It just seems like maybe Det isnt a good trading partner for the leafs as far as a destination for Connor Brown.

I agree! I’m not sure why this board got centered around a brown for glendening deal. Any other options for the leafs to acquire him? What are the wings looking for?
