Description
Habs commit to their youth movement by drafting three times in the first round. Bowen Byram is the key move if for some reason he gets past the Hawks the Habs have to make a move to move up the draft and get him. Don't think I have enough in the deal yet maybe add in a prospect like Evans but the Avs will want a roster player(Lehkonen?) if they're giving up a player like Byram. Mete may not be enough with the 2 seconds and possible 3rd but the Avs do have another pick which why they might do the deal. Byram is considered a sure thing but Mete's experience and being NHL ready could be more want the Avs want right now.
With the other two picks I'd pick Raphael Lavoie, a big forward who generates offense something the Habs need and Suzuki's brother, he's similar to his brother just needs some fine tuning and could be something special.
Habs move Alzner, Peca, Weise, Deslauriers, Shaw for cap reasons.
-Shaw is the only team loss here as he had a great bounce back here but I'm concerned he can't stay healthy and the Habs have to sell him when they can.
Habs bring in: Nelson, Murray, Byram, Nichushkin, Pouliot.
Nelson and Murray are the big additions, Nelson can essentially be a more offensive version of Andrew Shaw while Murray can be a steal if he can stay healthy, he is capable of being a top pair defenseman while not being highly offensive he gives the Habs stability and gives Byram time to ease into the NHL. CBJ have a number of left shot defense to resign which is why I think they'd be happy to move Murray for something rather then let him go to free agency for nothing. Nichushkin is a bit of wildcard who after returning to the NHL hasn't panned out but Dallas can't take on Shaw's cap without moving someone else. A fresh start with the Habs could revamp his career, he's a big body guy that the Habs need and could go up and down the lineup especially if injuries become an issue.
With the moves the Habs are set up better defensively even though they are quite young, they do give up some depth in picks but get three players I believe will be stars for years to come.
With Drouin I think if he doesn't figure out how to he consistent the Habs may move him by the deadline, there are a lot of players that can take his spot in the lineup like Lehkonen or Weal. By the deadline the Habs should know where they're at and where they're weak and can use Drouin to get that piece.

It's a lot of moving pieces which isn't Bergevins style so it won't happen, but shedding bad contracts, getting younger, getting powerplay help and fixing the left-side D. all need to get done this off season and this is my take on it.

Instead of trolling every post say what you mean, I'd love to hear your side of it, in my defense I may have been up way to long and had a few too many pops. Avs trade add in Lehkonen, Canucks trade add in a future late round pick, Ottawa trade also add in a future late round pick. Dallas trade is actually close in my opinion, Shaw has lots of value yet. What were wrong with my contracts tho?

Bro, that Murray trade is laughable. He easily gets a 2nd at this point. He’s an RFA not a UFA you could lose.

CBJ has three left shot defense all RFA's Murray hasn't been able to stay healthy ever and after Scott Harington's playoff performance I doubt they let him go, Zach Warenski isn't going anywhere. They're likely going to let Murray go to free agency anyways, trading someone's rights doesn't mean he signs

Yes but being that it’s his restricted rights Montreal has the option to match an offer sheet if he gets one from someone else and if they don’t they’ll likely end up with 1st and 3rd. He isn’t an unrestricted free agent whom they could lose for nothing. If you really think Harrington is better then Murray you’re crazy. Murray was playing top pair with Jones till he got hurt. He’s worth WAY more then a mid 5th round pick.

He becomes a free agent if they don't offer him a contract by July 1st, they likely will but if he declines because they low ball him due to not trusting his health as they shouldn't he'll have little value as an RFA, with Warenski and Harrington also needing contracts along with all their goalies and two key forward's one of the three left shot D will not be resigned I'm thinking it will be Murray because of his injury history as I've mentioned as well as how well Harrington played. Only playing one full season in 6 years can't give the Jacket's a lot of confidence even tho he had a career season before going down last year. Jackets will be going through a lot of changes as we know, one do the three D aren't staying, if they can afford both Warenski and Murray I'd be shocked and the Habs can go for Harrington but I bet they can only afford Warenski and Harrington
