Simple summer

Created by: herzausstein
Team: 2019-20 Nashville Predators
Initial Creation Date: May 12, 2019

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
One big trade and 2 smaller trades.

Smith to anywhere for the best futures we can get. I think a pair of 3rds is reasonable for him. Has gotten 20G in 4 of the last 5 seasons.

Colton Sissons to Edmonton (or anywhere else). I've put the return as *Bear Edit: Changed to Persson and pick to 3rd* plus a 2nd (though the pick could be later). Edmonton needs cheap NHL level depth that can help produce.

Ellis + for Kessel this move gives Nashville another 20-30G scorer that can produce some assists.

Sign Duchene... not alot of wiggle room capwise but i felt 8.75M was on the higher end of what he'd get.

Lines:
Forsberg Johansen Arvidsson has been left together and can be interchangeable as a "First line"

Tolvanen Duchene Kessel - Duchene and Kessel can create space for Tolvanen and drive play on their own.

Jarnkrok Turris Granlund - As a depth line this group should be able to provide offense against the lower d pairings

Watson Bonino Grimaldi - Fast hard working line that can produce some offense

Pairings:
Ekholm/Subban - 1st pairing takes toughest competition

Josi/Fabbro - Being paired with Josi should help Fabbro ease into things. He can be sheltered pretty well with the cast around him.

Hamhuis/Bear - If bear isn't an acceptable return for Edmonton replace him with Allard/Carrier/Y. Weber and keep moving. Preference would be bear or Allard and start getting the young players in there.

Could trade Granlund at the deadline for some good future and let grimaldi slide into the 3rd line RW position (can't afford to extend Granlund and pay him that much to be a 3rd line RW. I say deadline so he can hopefully recoupe his value some after a rough end to the season last year.

No, Sissons doesn’t get Bear and a 2nd. Edmonton only has two true RD in the NHL right now. With Holland as GM I think Bouchard won’t see significant NHL time until until 20-21.

that's fair. Just wasn't sure of his status since he still hasn't gotten a fair shake at NHL time. Would Jones be more available then due to Edmonton's surplus of lefties? or perhaps Persson?

I like it. Send it in. I'd put turris on 1st PP unit instead of Ekholm

I think Lagesson, or Persson could get got. If they can’t move Russell or Sekera one of Klefbom or Nurse maybe too, would have to be a top six winger at least though. I don’t know if the Oilers have ever been so deep in defence, It’s hard too know what they’re going to do
