Both are years away from being NHL players so I imagine both are wait and see type guys. Goalies take so long to develop that I doubt the Leafs have much interest in doing anything beyond waiting and seeing.

Maybe worth a 4th or 5th. Certainly not worth moving. Goalie depth like this is needed. 1 in 10 goalies at this stage go on to be decent starters.

I'd say they are worth more than that but it also doesn't make any sense to move them since they are just big question marks still. Woll is a lot closer but he's likely going to be battling for starting minutes on the Marlies next season and is still a year or two away from being a back up.

I disagree that their value is that low, they are 2 successful prospects and can be traded like any other good prospect with an asterisk and slightly lower value because they are goalies

Look at tuukka task, he was 3 years out when the leafs traded him and he brought back a Calder trophy winner, not saying they are task but to say goalie prospects wont be traded like fwrd or d prospects is wrong

I would put them in the same category as a Filip Gustavsson when he was traded to Ottawa to bring in Brassard from Pit. Back when Brassard was a notable 2c 60 point player

Different time, just look at how goalies are drafted now. Seeing one drafted in the 2nd round is becoming rare. They are too hard to predict and take too long to develop. So I doubt you'll see many goalies moved until they are further along in their development.

Rodzikhockey93 has a good recent comparable (though I might put them at slightly less value) Filip Gustavsson

Sure whatever, use any comparable you want. From where I am sitting, I am just looking at these two as prospects with promise but I won't know what they are for another couple years. Remember Sparks was the best Goalie in the AHL last season and that didn't translate to the NHL. Goalies are so hard to figure out, so I'd just hold on to them and wait and see. The return on either is going to be very small.

Yeah and they woulda been smart to trade him while he had value

Did he have value though?

Goalies are funny, Thatcher Demko has a tonne of value despite having almost nothing to show for all his high praise. Sparks didn't really have much value last season when he was hands down the best goalie in the AHL. Scott could have a decent value right now but I doubt he'd get you much more than a 3rd rounder right now and for that I'd just keep him and see how he develops. Eventually Andersen will start to age, hopefully one of Woll or Scott can take over. No need to rush or make a rash decision on either of them yet.

Keep them both, dont allow the situation to end in Raycroft > Pogge > Rask

Rask was a first found pick and raycroft was their 3rd starter. That is why that move was made. Goalie prospects ecstatic do not carry high value. Even in the draft. Just the way it is now.

I don’t see either worth more than a third tops. It would be incredibly stupid to trade either. We are constantly searching for the next starter. And like I said earlier we may need to burn through many prospects before we find the one.
