Can Tyson Barrie play on the left side event tough he's right-handed? If so, MTL says yes 1v1 Barrie vs Tatar, simply based on the value.

I would even say that MTL would have to include another piece in the trade to make it fair.

But I don't think MTL would be willing to make that trade right now, unless they are 100% sure to add a big name like Duchene (for example) up front because they REALLY need the goals a player like Tatar provides.

MTL: Barrie outscored tatar this season and most seasons as a defenseman, his value is much higher than tatar

NYR: kreider is a mid range aging UFA c, jost is a young rfa c with many years of control and lots of potential at 1/5 the cost.. you add a first and second to that and krieders value takes a nosedive

Kreider is a 2nd line LW on a good team and as a 1 year rental, you arent getting a 1st, 2nd, and a solid young player for him. Look at what you got for Hayes, why is Kreider worth more? Hes not, wings are never worth as much as Centres especially only 55 point ones

and exactly what JeffW said a bout Barrie.

Hard no on both deals.
Overpayment for Kreider.
Barrie nets you a better return than Tatar elsewhere.

Not disagreeing on overvaluing Kreider, because I did. But he is 100% more valuable than Kevin Hayes. Kevin Hayes has played one good half season in the last 3 years and that was the first half of last year. 20 games of Kevin Hayes was worth a 1st rd pick and a plus a decent NHL-ready prospect to Winnipeg. A full season of Kreider is worth much more than that. Also I think the Rangers try to trade Kreider to a team he is willing to resign with, and let them talk a little before the trade goes thru-- like with Mark Stone's trade.

Hayes is a C, and as a Rental will always get more value. Kreider is a good but not elite LW that has the ability to play on a teams first line if you have a hole on the left side. Mark Stone holds infident more value than Kreider due to how he is not only a ppg player but one of the top defensive forwards in the league

Kreider is good not great, Kreider is already 28 and to sign a big contract at 29 as a UFA, not ideal. Stone was 26 when traded signed, and enters into his new contract at 27. Big big difference when it comes to pending UFA years. Sorry but Kreider as useful as he can be, I just don't see the huge draw based on those factors with him. Nice to have but at no point is he worth giving up prime assets for. Guys like him show up in UFA every offseason.
