Take out Mayfield Clutterbuck 2019 2nd and Isles still lose big time.

I'd say Leafs take it but its not as lob sided as your suggesting. Nylander could easily return to form and be a 65-75 point player with even more upside. Dobson, of course a very promising blue chip prospect is still a risk of not panning out. This trade could easily go the other way and be one of the worst trades for the leafs if Kadri also puts up 20+ goals next year and Dobson doesn't pan out. Then it'd be Mayfield (more of a bottom 4 RHD) and clutterbuck for Kadri and Nylander.

In terms of value, the Leafs are on the better receiving side but are taking the most risk IMO.

Both Kadri and Nylander are kind of declining. And I'd say the Isles need a goal scorer, which Nylander isn't. He's more of a playmaker, and we already have Bailey and Barzal for that. Kadri can score goals, but I'm not sure he waives his NTC.

If I had to pursue anyone on Toronto, it'd be Marner (unrealistic target) or Kapanen (can score goals and is a realistic target for either a trade or offer sheet).

You don't know anything if you think Nylander is declining lol. He has better stats than Henrik Zetterberg at the same age and will likely put up at least 80-90 points next season. Book it.

Kapanen for Mayfield has appeal for both clubs.

Tough to lose Mayfield’s grit and team friendly contract, but Wilde and Dobson are both on the way. And I’m equally excited about both of them. The Isles will be very strong on the RD within a few years, so losing Mayfield may not be that bad.
