Rangers fan here, I’m not too sure IF NYR would intend on getting Marleau just to buy him out considering it would be a full cap burn. Rangers might want to buy out Brendan Smith? Also am not sure if that kind of trade would eliminate NYR from potentially signing Panarin or other big UFA. If NYR do a move like this, just a 2nd round pick also would not be enough for Gorton to take on Marleau $6.5M cap hit to be bought out.

Yep any buyout at the age of 35 and over is a FULL cap hit, which then makes no sense to buy out. And everything I am hearing he has no intention of waiving his no trade clause. San Jose might be the only spot he might be willing to go, but they are as cap strapped as the Leafs

Not to mention the brilliant asset management of buying out the Leafs honorary dad. Who looks after the kids? Kadri?

    Yeah, agree with the others.

And theres no way you buy a guy out and then he comes back to play for league minimum, no way.

Also, why would Ennis sign for 700k? He had a good year and will get 1mil from somebody, just ridiculous to see a vet, coming off a strong 4th line year, getting so little.

Its not really about the money though, its about being sent with a pick elsewhere to be bought out and then getting almost league minimum. Its about pride
